Business Service Delivery: Recovery Resources for Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) Staff

Now more than ever, Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) staff can provide critical support and outreach to businesses and employers across the country. In this article, we will briefly examine resources to help LVER staff, and other members of the American Job Center (AJC) team, deliver core business services, share additional information and assets to support employers, and gain a better understanding of the challenges facing businesses and employers due to changing economic conditions and the impact of the pandemic.

Types of resources:

Delivering Core Business Services. These resources are aimed at helping employers and hiring managers find, retain, and train their people. One of the best resources for this is:

  • The CareerOneStop Business Center—their mission is to deliver integrated, easy-to-understand workforce information that helps job seekers, students, workers, workforce intermediaries, and employers develop their capacity and make sound economic decisions in the new economy.

  • USDA: COVID-19 Federal Rural Resource Guide—This website is intended to help the rural community navigate individual stimulus bills and federal resources for COVID-19 private and public sector entities, non-profits and tribal governments, agricultural producers, and ranchers
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)—Visit this website to find government and other reliable resources for workplace issues related to coronavirus. Both state and federal government agencies have provided resources to help workers and employers navigate workplace issues related to COVID-19.
  • USA.gov—This site has general information about what the US government is doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understanding Business Challenges. This recommended reading list will help LVER staff, and their partner workforce system staff, keep pace with what employer customers are facing during times of economic recovery.
