Resources for Veteran Employment Service Providers

While it may seem more challenging to assist veterans during this time of social distancing, there are many online resources available to facilitate veterans’ employment. Below are some proven and reliable online resources that were designed to help veteran job-seekers.

  • NeedAJobNow.usNLx.com: Powered by the National Labor Exchange (NLx), this site houses jobs from vetted employers from across the country in all industries and provides an opportunity for Americans to return to work and gain meaningful employment.  The site contains over 400,000 job openings and continues to grow daily with current job content refreshed daily, and there is no cost to job seekers and employers.

  • Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): The VA’s website is a great resource for job-seeking veterans and their families. It provides detailed explanations of veteran benefits such as health care, career, education, and training; access to the Veteran Crisis Line; and a search functionality to assist with finding the closest VA location. With many integral functions automated on the VA’s website, veterans can file claims, apply for health care, get ID cards, and more—all from their home computer.

  • Benefits.gov: Benefits.gov is the official benefits website of the U.S. government, which was developed to increase access to government programs and facilitate interaction with the federal government. Since 2002, the site has helped over 130 million people identify and access government benefits that can help them improve their circumstances. With online questionnaires to assist with determining what benefits a veteran is eligible for, as well as the ability to browse by a specific agency or category, Benefits.gov allows veterans to quickly find available government benefits.

  • Job Accommodation Network (JAN): With resources for both employers and individuals, the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) provides free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment challenges. JAN helps individuals with disabilities enhance their employability and shows employers how to capitalize on the value and talent that people with disabilities add to the workplace. With resources, detailed information on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a searchable accommodation database, and more, JAN can help to better serve veterans with disabilities.

  • WorkforceGPS: Sponsored by the Employment and Training Administration, Workforce GPS is an online technical assistance website created to help build the capacity of America’s public workforce investment system. This helpful resource provides access to communities of interest, useful webinars and other training resources, promising workforce development practices, and evidence-based research. Designed for employment service providers, this site gives individuals the tools and best practices needed to assist veterans in seeking and retaining employment.
